My husband made sure to mount them onstuds in the wall so that frequent use (removing and replacing the hair dryer,etc.) would not cause the holders to come out of the wall. The holder seems quite sturdy. My only complaint is that the weld or the area where the spiral joins the base is not finished very smoothly.
I'm glad I ordered 2 - for my hair dryer and curling iron.
